A meaningful step toward educational and social development was taken as Almarah Foundation and The University of Lahore officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on education, community engagement, and youth empowerment.

The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Mr. Awais Raoof, Chairman of The University of Lahore, and D.I.G Mehboob Aslam Lilla, Commandant Chung Training College, Lahore. The MoU was formally signed by Ms. Sophiya Warraich, Chairperson Almarah Foundation, and Mr. Ali Aslam, Registrar University of Lahore.

A Strategic Collaboration for Education and Social Change

The partnership aims to create a lasting framework for cooperation between academia and the social sector. Both institutions will work together to promote experiential learning, civic engagement, and leadership among youth, while contributing to the broader goals of community development and national progress.

Under this MoU, both parties have agreed to:

Organize monthly seminars, workshops, and awareness sessions at the university, led by Almarah Foundation.

Engage students in volunteer and community outreach programs to strengthen their sense of social responsibility.

Establish an “Almarah Society” within the university to encourage student-led initiatives in humanitarian and social development work.

Promote mutual knowledge exchange and collaborative research aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Launch joint social media campaigns to showcase the impact of ongoing initiatives.

Empowering Youth Through Compassion and Learning

Speaking at the occasion, Ms. Sophiya Warraich, Chairperson of Almarah Foundation, emphasized the importance of connecting education with empathy and community service. She highlighted that real learning begins when students engage with society and understand the value of compassion, leadership, and service.

Ms. Sophiya Warraich, along with her husband D.I.G Mehboob Aslam Lilla, who has been a strong supporter of her humanitarian vision, is leading a remarkable initiative that provides care and education to over 250 children across thirteen state-of-the-art homes located in DHA and Cavalry Ground, Lahore. Their shared mission is to nurture responsible, empathetic individuals who can contribute meaningfully to the betterment of society.

On this occasion, Mr. Awais Raoof, Chairman of The University of Lahore, appreciated Almarah Foundation’s tireless efforts in the field of social welfare and expressed enthusiasm for this partnership. He stated that such collaborations allow universities to extend their educational mission beyond the classroom and create real social impact.

Through this MoU, Almarah Foundation and The University of Lahore aim to set a precedent for university–NGO collaboration in Pakistan.
